2008 Syrah

2008 Syrah
Varietal: 97% Syrah, 3% Viognier
AVA: Horse Heaven Hills
Vineyard: Elerding
Production Notes: Cofermented with 3% Viognier, aged in French oak for 22 months 14.5% alcohol at bottling.
Description: Deep garnet-colored with rich earth and pepper on the nose, this syrah is a force. Nothing is shy about this in-your-face wine. Spicy and dangerous, this wine tastes of chili pepper and blackberry pie with a dash of rosehip. A long oak finish with a not-so-surprising bit of heat at the end.
Critical Acclaim: "Pure fruit flavor, from Elerding Vineyard grapes, is the driver in all of these Stottle wines, and there is nothing to say but bravo. Taking the pure, varietal, berry-driven flavors of the grapes, Winemaker Josh Stottlemyer balances his wines with just the right mix of acid, earth and tannin, giving them depth and gravitas. But the fruit?sweet and pure?says drink?" --Wine Enthusiast Magazine
